A general guide for England. Building control and your designer may add project-specific requirements. We handle the electrical side, including notification and certificates for your building control sign-off.
Why the timing matters
Electrics happen in two visits. First fix is before plastering: cables, back boxes and ducting. Second fix is after decorating: sockets, switches, lights and appliances. Miss the first fix and walls get chased again after they've been finished.
- We'll coordinate with your builder, plumber, plasterer and kitchen fitter
- Clear drawings of where every socket, switch and light goes
- Certificates ready for building control completion
Things worth adding while the walls are open
- Cat6 data points and ceiling Wi-Fi access points
- Speaker cable for in-ceiling audio
- A spare cable route for an EV charger or heat pump
- Recessed TV boxes and hidden sockets
- Outdoor sockets and garden lighting feeds
- Smart lighting and heating controls
