What counts as an electrical emergency?
Anything that could hurt someone or start a fire: a burning smell, smoke, sparking or scorched sockets, exposed wires, water getting into fittings, or someone getting a shock. Losing power to the whole house, or to the fridge, freezer or heating, is urgent too.
My power's gone off. Should I call an electrician?
First check whether your neighbours have power. If the whole street is off, it's a power cut: call 105, the free power cut number, not an electrician. If it's just your house, check your fuse board for a tripped switch and try resetting it. If it won't stay on, call Carl.
How much does an urgent callout cost?
